The start of the 2019 Scout Year

As the exciting new Scout Year begins, we have some housekeeping to attend to.

First, I encourage every parent (registered or not) to complete Youth Protection Training (YPT), Follow this link, sign up, and take the course.  https://www.scouting.org/training/youth-protection/

Second, all scouts and parents MUST fill out the Annual Health and Medical Record.  This is required to participate in any basic Scouting activities such as local tours and weekend camping trips less than 72 hours in duration.  https://filestore.scouting.org/filestore/HealthSafety/pdf/680-001_AB.pdf

Third, make sure your scout is signed up for popcorn sales via the Trails-End website.  This is how we track their sales and inventory and make sure they get the rewards they’ve earned. This is mandatory, so please sign up quickly.  https://www.trails-end.com/ We are San Francisco Bay Area Counsil, Tres Ranchos District, Pack 603 (Unit)

Fourth, be sure to link our calendar to your calendar so that you are always up-to-date on Pack activities. http://pack603slz.org/current/schedule/ Google Calendar users can click on the link in the lower right of the calendar linked above .  Other users, can add this link https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ical/06jvp0mhk30jgvol5t2jdd1nl8%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics

Fifth, please note that all Webelos are to wear the Tan shirts rather than the navy shirts.  We also encourage Webelos to wear Green Pants/Shorts/Skorts and that other Cubs wear Navy Pants/Shorts/Skorts.  These do not need to be official pants but should match the official color.  Also, we recommend the convertible pants that convert to shorts for versatility and flexibility.

I also suggest sewing Webelos shirts with Hook and Loop patches (Velcro) as the Scout BSA program has the Scouts changing patches periodically. Try these – https://www.thegoosescache.com/index.php/scoutshirthookandloop/
