John Muir National Historic Site

Pack 603 took a little trip up to John Muir National Historic Site yesterday and had a wonderful experience. Kids and adults spent time exploring the massive house and seeing all the historic furniture and photos to walking the grounds and seeing the redwood trees and learning the history of John Muir and the region as a whole.

Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center and coastal cleanup

Sunday the cubs had a chance to visit the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center and get a guided tour of the shoreline and the many things that make it special.

Perched on stilts above a salt marsh, the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center is your introduction to the ecology of the San Francisco Bay Estuary. It features exhibits, programs, and activities designed to inspire a sense of appreciation, respect, and stewardship for the bay, its inhabitants, and the services they provide. After getting an overview of the park and its features, join a naturalist on one of the many weekend interpretive programs offered.

As part of their visit, the cubs also picked up trash that had gathered in the estuary. Donning gloves and trash bags, scouts gather up several bags worth of garbage including paper, Styrofoam, rubber, plastic, clothes, metals, and some unknown items.

Cull Canyon Swim Day 2015

cull-canyon
As part of their summer activities, Pack 603 spent the day at Cull Canyon Regional Recreation Area enjoying the 1.5 acre swim lagoon. The pack payed for all boys and bought tons of pizza and water for everyone. Several families showed up which was great for the kids to have fun and bond while the parents could chat or play too. All thanks to the generous support of those who contribute to our various fundraisers and events. Thank you.
